Well, it HAS been a good while...

..since I posted last. We'll say that life happened and you'll figure it out as I continue this blog. I'll start from now and move forward with this little project of mine.

It's summer, and that means summer time fun and summer time jobs. It's Tuesday, and I'll still swear it feels like Monday til Friday. I do have a few rays of sunshine during the week though: family night on Monday and a Star Wars themed RPG on Thursdays back on campus. That's plenty to keep me going through the week.

This last weekend was a blast! LAN party with some good friends of mine. It's always fun, and this time our list of games included: Demigod (first time, but fun!), DotA, CoD 4, CoD:WaW Zombies, and random bouts of Magic.

As for summer time jobs, I tried looking in Cookeville (as did several others I know), and not a single place was hiring. Not one! Not even on campus! How ridiculous is that? Or least, there were no jobs hiring anyone without some type of experience. The only job opening I found was available to graduate students in the Physics department...talk about fail.

So, my hunt lead me back to Murfreesboro, where my dad offered me my old job from summers' past. I jumped at it. Well, maybe more like limped over, but I got here and took it. At the very least, I'm able to save most of what I make for next year at school. Seeing as how I let myself go last year and lost my scholarships (for the moment), I'll need every dime I can get. I did it to myself and even saw it coming. I just didn't move to stop it. I'm not sure what the future holds for me now, but I do know that I'll be facing a little bit wiser.

At least, I think there's a grant I may now be eligible for now due to a change of major on my part. I finally said screw engineering. The department for my particular forte is up in the air and couldn't seem to make up its mind 0n what should be in the curriculum, so they played my class for the guinea pigs and screwed us up pretty good. After getting to do some work in the field, I realized how bad off I was and decided it wasn't worth the trouble. Now, I've swapped to something that my heart's always been in: teaching. Yeah, crappy pay, but I don't prioritize money too high.

Well, that's about it for now. Back to the grindstone!

Long Day Ahead

Well, I'm looking at two tests, lab, and a homework due tomorrow. Not all of it is extremely hard, it's just that it's all at once. I've put in a good bit of study time for the exams, so hopefully those will go well. The homework is going to be the toughest thing today. Just by the nature of Transfer Science, it's difficult. I've also managed to misplace my copy of the homework, so I'll have to copy someone else's during the day.

I did manage to have some good times this weekend, so I'm charged and ready for this short week.

I think...

Nightwish

Well, the title sorta has a double meaning.

First Meaning

If you read my last entry, you'll know that I met an absolutely amazing young lady the other day. Due to some random happenstance, we had meant to attend Church together and (thanks to bad telephone service) completely missed each other. That was yesterday, and I called later to see if she wanted to do something later that evening. However, she already had other plans. Sad day! Well, my wish, hope, and prayer this night is that we won't miss each other next time!

For right now, we are going to try going to Church together again next Sunday. I had to cancel other plans because I forgot that my Dad's birthday party is this weekend! Oh well and partytime!

Second Meaning

Well, I'll give you a dollar if you guess this one out of thin air!

Lately, I've discovered a really awesome internet radio site: pandora.com. They call themselves the "Music Genome Project." Which basically means that you start on something you know like, and based on that, the site plays music that is similar by other bands. You tell it if you like it or not, and it comes back with more music by the original artist and others similar to the original. You can create multiple stations (I'm sitting on around 10 right now) and listen to one, or you can mix them with their quickmix feature.

I started with one station centered around Evanescence. It's been a while since I've heard anything from them. Through Pandora, I've found several other bands with their style from all over! One of those bands being Nightwish. Others include Epica, DragonForce, Edenbridge, Nickelback, and Breaking Benjamin. I've never really been a big music buff, but I highly recommend this site!

Last thing about the site, you can also see to what your friends are listening and share radio stations! You just have to know the person's email address. I personally added people through their handy friend fetcher. When you're going to add friends when you first make a profile for pandora, it allows you to tell it your email and password (no it doesn't store it and it does use a secure connection as far as I know or could gather from talking to their support staff) and then it will fetch your address book and see if anyone is using pandora and add them to your friends list.

Getting Ready for Church and What a Weekend!

Well, I usually attend the service at Stevens Street Baptist Church on Sunday, but I'm going to try going to a new church today: The River Community Church. It seems to be a lot more like my home church of ROCC, and I'm excited to go!

I'm also just coming off of what has been a great weekend so far! It's been really relaxing, and I met a couple of new friends. I think I also might have a bit of a romantic interest in someone that I met. She's an EE, and she is definitely a gEEk. We had a good ole time playing Settlers of Catan, and there was some chemistry. We definitely share some interests like gaming, anime, and Christ. What more could a guy want! Cross your fingers!

Night Shift

Never will I again resign to working night shift in the computer labs. It is slow, and it cuts into my already limited free time and extra homework time. Unfortunately (although I've them 10 times now), my group has scheduled another meeting to do the group homework tonight and I can't go. I know we have to get it done, but could we have tried yesterday or tomorrow even?
